Quick FYI

The Ottawa Rapids, the Can-AM League’s newest team, today announced the signings of three players - and there’s a common thread among them. Mike Kusiewicz, Jeremy Ware and Fraser Robinson are the Rapids first three player signings, and fittingly, all are Canadian. Mike Kusiewicz, 31, was born in Montreal and played ball in east Nepean. Jeremy Ware, 32, was born in Orangeville, Ontario. Fraser Robinson, 24, calls North Gower, Ontario “home”.
Left-handed pitcher Mike Kusiewicz, a member of Team Canada, and former Olympian played with six different major league organizations. Drafted by the Colorado Rockies in 1994, Mike was named the 2006 Ottawa Baseball Player of the Year and most recently played for Team Canada at the 2007 World Cup of Baseball.
Left fielder Jeremy Ware was drafted by the Montreal Expos in 1994. Jeremy represented Canada at the 2004 Olympics, and appeared in 53 games as a member of the 2001 Ottawa Lynx. He played for the Edmonton Cracker Cats of the Northern League in 2005 and 2006.
Fraser Robinson, recently graduated from Northwestern State University where the 6 foot 4, left-handed pitcher went 3-3 in 2007.
2008 will mark the inaugural season for the Ottawa Rapids. Ottawa, the league’s second Canadian team, will host 47 home dates, welcoming teams from Atlantic City , Nashua , Quebec City, Brockton , Sussex , Worcester and New Jersey.

Awesome!
Real baseball news, as opposed to news about franchises and stadiums and politics and such.
Mike K & Ware are great veteran acquisitions. I’ve seen them both play here in the IL. Ware obviously for the home team and Mike K with Pawtucket ( I think ). These guys are really good pro ballplayers.
I don’t know Robinson and I don’t follow university ball but Northwestern sounds impressive enough.
Finally, baseball.

Looks like a tall lefty (pic included). Good game here against Nicholls State in 2006: http://www.nsudemons.com/story.asp?ID=2191
Look at that, he was teammates with a Miles Durham. No joke!

A little more on Robinson, hopefully he makes the squad and can start adding professional lines into his baseball cube:

That 3.27 ERA in 2006 was 6th in the Southland Conference that year.

Nice find on the NSU Demons story Bob! I was doing quick research before firing off the release, but none of us could find anything with his age. (Turns out that someone at the Stadium knew).

Any idea when the Rapids are going to be launching an updated website with ticket details?
