Protecting the Lynx legacy

Civics 101

Posted by Carl on March 25, 2008

It appears that the presentation tomorrow will be part of Rogers coverage - both television and webcast.  There should be a link to the webcast here.  Mr.  Wolff is scheduled to speak second, but don’t blink - it’s meant to be fairly brief.  Despite how things appear,

things are rolling along down at the Stadium.

Ahhhh yes, I can almost smell the roasted peanuts and hot dogs right now.

Nice picture although it is totally depressing for late-March. It sure doesn’t look like a baseball stadium or a place where I’ll actually be enjoying a cold beer in less than two months (and probably complaining about the heat). Keep in mind, if the Lynx were still in town, the home opener would be in exactly two weeks! Had they stayed, they probably wouldn’t be able to play here for the first couple home stands at least, even if the snow melts quickly, it will take weeks before the field conditions become acceptable. I still remember the 2 hours plus delay for home opener 2003 when the field staff was struggling to make the field safe enough. (I remember that game very well, the whole crowd was making fun of a poor player with a funny name, Coco Crisp, with chants of “Co-co! Co-co!”. Little did we knew back then that this Coco guy would become a star major-leaguer!)

Oh, and also, how in the world did we go from almost indifference toward the Gatineau market during Lynx years to having a radio deal for broadcastings of the Rapides games on CJRC (all of that before a single Can-Am ball ever being throwed on Coventry Road)? That’s real cool, now I hope something will happen with the Team 1200. Mr. Wolff and his people have done every little thing right up until now. I really believe this thing is going to work.

If someone can get me a nice reliable harness, I’d be happy to go up and peel that glue off the facade from the old Jetform letters! Toboggan party anyone? Don’t laugh, I think one of the Can-Am teams actually has one around Christmas time. Play Ball.

  4. Coach Savage Says:

speaking of CJRC, Yes I know it is a French radio station but I wonder if the games will be somewhat bilingual? (haden’t taken french since grade 8 although my french teacher was kinda hot)

Hopefully they can do something about those old letters, Did they change the name of the ball park yet?
