“Something Ottawa’s never seen before.”

For someone who is by his own admission, not comfortable in front of the media, Rapids GM Don Charrette seems to be finding his rhythm. Here’s the interview he gave to the Carleton School of Journalism a few weeks back. Don does a very nice job, and gives us a good idea of what’s coming up and what to expect from the Raps in 2008.

Once again, the concept of “This is Ottawa’s team”. We’ve heard this before and will hear it again I’m sure. I think this will go a long way in establishing the Rapids in the community. Can’t wait to see what kind of marketing they will be doing and what is being prepared for Opening Night.
On another note, I notice the IronPigs have lost their sixth straight today. Their home opener is on Friday. Strange because they should have started at home as the IL alternates home-away each year. The snow *might* be all cleared away if the Lynx had started here Friday.
For those of you who know Al Gilmore, the Lynx maintenance man, I ran into him this afternoon. He’s enjoying his retirement for now having worked his last day for the Lynx in January.

I agree, Pierre, that the team has to get grounded in the local psyche and I have high hopes. I know Don and I know that he is giving it his all.
While I’m at it, I have to salute Carl for keeping Rapids/Rapides stuff in the public eye. Baseball is a tough sell in Ottawa but there are committed fans like him - and us!

Looks like that “other team” has scored a grand total of 9 runs in 6 games.

Can’t wait to get it going! Let us know more details about the “spring training”. I hope it is on the weekends too, but if not I will have to take a sick day and head to the park.
