The unofficial Ottawa Rapids blog

Protecting the Lynx legacy

Exit stage left

Posted by Carl on May 6, 2008

The UORB is closing it’s doors.  Unfortunately, there’s just too much on my plate right now and I don’t see that situation improving anytime soon.  If I can’t do it justice, it’s best not to do it at all.  You’ve probably noticed a steady decline in the blog since the first press conference; my heart’s just not in it anymore.

I should have the occasional Can-AM related post over on the Unofficial Ottawa Lynx blog, but as of today the Raps blog is no more.  Thanks for coming by for the last five months, and we’ll see you at the park.

Carl.

No doubt it was a tough call, this site’s done a great service to ball fans in Ottawa and beyond, but it’s hard work, especially when there’s a family commitment … I’ve been there, buddy … see you at the ballpark soon

    Carl,
Thanks for your work here & over at the UOLB.
Only 2 more weeks until actual games start - maybe you’ll be more inspired then.
Speaking of inspiration, any word on who got pouring rights at the stadium this year?

  4. Dave B Says:

Thanks for saving baseball for us Carl, or should I say bazeball? Would not have happened without you. I’ve cheered for teams with bad logos before, and I can do it again! Go Rapidzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

  5. Tricia Says:

Thanks for all the work you have put into the blogs and into keeping baseball in Ottawa. Much appreciated! See you at the ballpark!

Thank you for all the great work you did! We were able to site on the sidelines and get everything we wanted to know just by coming to this site… If not for you, we would not have been informed or up to date like we were… You were great!

    Thanks!

    P.S.

If someone stepped up to take it over, would you let them? Or should they start fresh?

  7. Alan Says:

Thanks for all your hard work and dedication Carl. See you at the games in a couple of weeks!

Carl, it was great of you to give us news of the Rapidz that we wouldn’t otherwise have gotten. Coming here every few days was one of the highlights of my week. It was also the only blog I read regularly. Thanks.

The blog doesn’t have to die. Someone else can blog about the Rapidz here or elsewhere. Maybe there will be a Rapidz Booster Club (Tricia?).

It was a pleasure reading you and looking forward to see you in person in a couple of weeks.

For a couple of months you were literally a part of my morning routine, right after getting my coffee and checking my emails. You wrote a lot of interesting articles on this blog, all of which I read with interest. Thanks for the good work and see you at the park my friend.

    Carl,

Hundreds of kids just like Zak appreciate your effort, even if they don’t know it yet. Here’s to baseball in Canada’s capital, your part in its rebirth cannot be understated.
